What does this service do for you?
If you should inadvertently overdraw your checking account with a debit card purchase (signature only), ACH transaction, as well as a regular check, CU Hawaii will have the discretion to pay your overdraft (subject to the limit of your overdraft and the amount of the overdraft fee).
When your items are paid, this service will help save you the embarrassment and inconvenience of a returned item as well as the fee normally charged to you by merchants for items returned to them. This service is offered as an additional benefit of doing business with CU Hawaii Federal Credit Union. Courtesy Pay is not a line of credit. Should you have any questions regarding Courtesy Pay, or wish to opt out of this service, please call CU Hawaii and we will be happy to assist you.
Eligibility Requirements:
In order to become eligible for Courtesy Pay, some of our requirements are that your consumer account must be opened for at least three months, receive regular deposits, and thereafter you maintain your account in good standing.
CU Hawaii will have the discretion to pay overdrafts within the Courtesy Pay limits, but payment by CU Hawaii is a discretionary courtesy and not a right of the member or an obligation of CU Hawaii . Should an overdraft occur, your account will be charged the standard NSF/OD fee for handling each item even if paid by the Courtesy Pay Program. This is the same fee that CU Hawaii charges for items drawn against insufficient funds and returned to the payee. If multiple items are presented against your account on the same day, each item will be assessed the NSF fee.
